Ayla’s nursery.

It’s finally finished, y’all! If Ayla’s nursery looks familiar, that’s because it was also’s Jude’s nursery up until last summer. Even though we knew from early on that we wanted to go for an “under the sea” theme and were able to keep a lot of things the same (the color of the walls, the dresser, the bookshelves, the curtains), it took us forever and a half to get her name on the wall. One, because we didn’t know what we were going to call her until she was born, and two, because rather than simply using a decal (like we did for Jude), Scott had the insane idea to hand-paint it.

I was verrry skeptical at first about how that would turn out—as neither of us are artists—but my sister-in-law helped with creating stencils, and Scott went to work with the paint. We’re procrastinators, so it took us several months to complete the dang thing…but I’m actually really impressed with how it looks! (Thank goodness baby girl’s name is only four letters!) Is it perfect? Nah, but I don’t care; it sparks joy every time I see it.

We were originally going to put a mermaid on the wall instead of a starfish, and I’m soooo glad we decided against that. Simple is better, in my opinion. Plus, I think the bubbles add a cute little touch.

As for the rest of the nursery decor, here’s where we found some of the individual pieces (contains affiliate links):

+ Babyletto Hudson 3-in-1 Convertible Crib

Davinci Jayden Double Dresser

Dot Rod Pocket Window Curtain

+ Summer Contoured Changing Pad with Covers

+ Pink Circle Rug

+ DHP Rosewood Tall End Table

+ Wallniture Denver Wall Mounted Floating Shelves

+ Spring Horizon Painting (from Marshall’s)

+ Sea Creature Mobile

+ Clam Shell Night Light

Even with the ugly rocking chair crammed in the corner, I think I like this nursery better now than before! Probably because I’m partial to the ocean.
