Since I've been home, I've started experimenting with a few different recipes (chocolate chip banana bread, anyone?) in preparation for apartment living next year. Tonight, I decided to be bold and try something that I'd never eaten before but had heard many good things about: quinoa (pronounced keen-wah). Apparently, this stuff is the cream of the crop—not only is it satisfyingly tasty, but it is also a much healthier alternative to rice. High in protein and magnesium, this whole grain is the perfect food for fighting off migraine headaches and keeping your heart in good shape. Plus, cooking quinoa is as easy as boiling water. Add some mixed veggies, Romano cheese, a little bit of garlic seasoning, and voilĂ ! You've got yourself a perfectly delicious (and nutritious) meal. 
Okay, so maybe the finished product doesn't look that appetizing. But this is me we're talking about here. None of my culinary creations ever turn out pretty. Still, I encourage you to try quinoa. You'll never go back!
