Scorpio to Virgo?

1.17.2011

Having been born in late October, my sign has always been a Scorpio -- something I thought could never change.  It was one of those few constants in a world full of chaos, an area of unchanging certainty and positive assurance that was firmly set in place by the all-knowing heavens, and without a doubt, the simplest and most creative way of getting to know someone's "true inner self."  (Please.)  But you get the picture.  However, according to some astrologers, I am now (and maybe have been for a while?) a Virgo instead!  How unfair is that?  I mean, you can go your whole life being told that you're one thing and the next minute, wha-BAM -- you're something completely different.  Apparently, the alignment in the stars shifted over time, and therefore all of our fates somehow changed...?  This is crucial, if you ask me.  I, for one, always took pride in being the ever-so-passionate-and-mysterious Scorpio, even if I don't agree with half of the things my general "personality description" holds tight to.  Let's compare my two signs, shall we?

Scorpio - The Scorpion
October 24 – November 22 (Nov. 23 - Nov. 29)
The Scorpio is often misunderstood. These personalities are bold and are capable of executing massive enterprises with cool control and confidence. They can surmount seemingly all obstacles when they put their mind to the task, and they have unshakable focus when the situation calls for it. Regardless of their bold nature, they are often secretive, but they are always observing behind their withdrawn manner. Being associated with a
solar animal, (the scorpion), they are not withdrawn for long, and when they come out again they do so with force, vigor and determination. It is true, Scorpios can be argumentative and pack a powerful sting, but that’s simply because they see all opposition as a healthy challenge.

Nope, not even close, if I'm being honest.  And what a bummer, because I really do admire the Scorpio's cool and confident demeanor, powerful inner strength, and mysterious allure.  But I'm more of the friendly, quiet type who is read as easily as an open book.  Perhaps I really am a Virgo?

Virgo - The Virgin
August 23 – September 23 (Sept. 16 - Oct. 30)
Virgo’s have keen minds, and are delightful to talk with, often convincing others of outlandish tales with ease and charm. Virgos are inquisitive and are very skilled at drawing information from people. This trait also makes them naturally intuitive. Combine this with their remarkable memories, and we see an advanced, analytical personality. However the Virgo needs balance in their lives otherwise they may become short-tempered, impatient and self-serving. Virgo’s are excellent teammates in work and social activities. They work well with others, although they freely express their opinions (even when unwarranted).

Eh, a little bit closer, I guess.  But still not head-on.  This all requires a bit more research, don't you think?  Which, frankly, I don't have time for.  So I'm just going to stick with my original sign, no matter what the star experts tell me.  Because, well, I was born a Scorpio, and I like being a Scorpio; therefore, I remain a Scorpio for life.  And that's all there is to it.

What's your sign/new sign?  Do you believe in horoscopes?  For me, it's more for fun than anything else.  Honestly, I would rather not have my fate written in the stars, but the predictions are definitely interesting to read every now and then.  Tell me your opinion on the subject.

  1. I agree with you - I don't believe in them, but they're fun sometimes!

I don't remember everything I read, but I remember seeing what mine had changed to, and I thought it actually sounded a little more accurate. But apparently there are two different kinds of horoscopes and these changes didn't actually affect the ones most people follow.

Funny note though: Aaron - that is, Boyfriend/Fiancé - the lady he's staying with while he interns in NYC is super into astrology. One of the first questions she asked him was what his sign was. and it was the very first question she asked me when I went up there with him for New Year's. When I told her I was Sagittarius, she said "Oh! You good for him" and winked at me. "You're exciting. He needs that."
I cracked up. It was so awesome. :)

  2. haha, that's amazing! i read that on your blog, and it made me smile. even though i'm not sure if astrology is real, it's nice to know that if it is, even the stars believe that you and your fiance are meant to be! <3
